Application Design

The appearance of a media player for a mobile device with a small screen is often unique only in its design details. But not only the uniqueness, but also the comprehensibility of operation processes should be considered in the design.

Based on predefined wireframes we had to create different screens for such a music player while considering some given topics like smooth and rough. We had to examine how these topics can be visually transferred to a screen. Since so many things were already given, we had more time to focus on other issues like the layout, typography and the icon family. Especially in the icons we invested a lot of time.
We questioned if the musical note as an abstract icon for songs, as used in most cases, is the right metaphor. This consideration was fundamental for our further icon-development, in which we came relatively quickly back to the abstraction. For example, represents our final version of the track icon a technical rotation of a CD or a vinyl.
